Default Air Filter

Hey guys. I need a new air filter for my Z250. I ride in a lot of sand and dust and was told to stick to a foam one, but which one? There must be atleast 20 different brands. Can any one give me some advice?
Thanks
Linz

Default Air Filter

I have just baught an airfilter for my z400.
If you are going to be buying an air filter for sand and dirt riding, it would be best to get a foam filter. I have a Pro Flow filter and for £120 I got the reed to fit my airbox and tow foam filters, one is fine and the other is optional to fit over this which is not as fine. You put the second filtr over when you are riding in dirt, dust or sand.
The other option is a cotton filter such as a K&N filter. These are slightly more expensive and they need more maintenance.
There is special filter spray that you have to apply to these filters and if you forget to coat the K&N filter in this spray, small particals can enter the engine and ruin the engine in just a couple of hours f use. I'v seen it happen and it's expensive.
Go for the foam same sort of performance and less maintenance...

Good luck and have fun Gareth

I'd go with the K&N cuz they are really good filters, breath better, and you can clean and re-oil it.

If you go K&N, run an Outerwears, and you WILL need to rejet.

Go with a Twin Air foam filter I love mine and it has much better throttle response. You wont need to rejet as long as you are running everything else stock.

K&N has the best flow I have seen...the twin air foam filters are great to. Either way also look into an Airbox mod to go with it....make sure you rejet. I promise youll be happy

Thanks for all the info guys. I'll go to the spares shop and see what they have for my Z250. I'll probably go with a twin air foam. I have had my air box modified and did the jets and dyno when I put my silencer on. I just find that I have a lot of power but not enough top end since doing that. I am thinkin of putting the old pipe back. My Z used to back fire alot when it reached top revs but now it hardly ever gets top revs. Maybe a new filter will do the trick!
