Default Trade it in or sell outright

Well in some aspect your right but I didnt even ask my grandpa for one. Here is the situation and here is what happened...My Mom just recently(2 years ago) got married to my stepdad(Greg). My stepdad's dad is who bought it for me. My stepdads sister(Chris) is a lesbian and her ex-wife had two daughters(Taryn and Wesliegh),they were married for 8 years and so the two girls are like his only grandkids till I came along. My stepgrandpa was bying one for Taryn, my stepdad just happened to be there and knew I had been dreaming of one from the time I was 8 years old. My stepdad convinced my grandpa to purchas a package deal on two Z250s and a RM125 for my stepdad and my mom and greg were going to pay them off(in payments) and I would work mine off for them buying it for me. Taryn doesnt do a damn thing for my grandpa and leaches all of his money, hers is paid off at no expense to her or her mom( you should she the shape that poor brand new quad is in). So I ended up with 2 small a bike (that I am still extremely happy that I have still)and now I have outgrown it. It just happened to be convienient and it was an opportunity that could not be passed up so that is what happened. In a way though I would never be any good or I would have killed myself on sumthing bigger as my first ride. I needed the little Z to help build my abilities. I could so be satisfied if the suspension was better but it isnt. And I WOULD keep it for a long while longer if the opportunity to get a really cheap brand new Cannondale was not there. And I am looking to start racing at the local tracks and you cant tell me that I would survive on a 250 against bigger quads.

So that is the situation. Yes I am fortunate and I am not trying to look unappreciative but if I want to progress in racing I am going to need to do sumthing...

Oh and no I havent even metioned anything to my grandpa about getting sumthing bigger. I am exercising all of my options first. I also have to stradle building my car so it is drivable when I get my license and yes I AM RESTORING it I know what I am doing so dont think I am saying that I am building when actually my dad is.

Here's one idea. You could probably buy aftermarket shocks for your quad. You can also buy a clutch kit for the Z250. It would be a shame to sell such a new quad and lose so much money on it. It might be better to improve it to a certain extent. Drive it for a couple years and then move up to something else.

That was the original intent. Then that deal came up on that C-dale and I thought the opportunity would slip by me...BUT they have two now and they have been sitting there for over 1 yr and a half now. I dont think they are going any where. Yes it would be a shame because I completely agree with you and now I have decided to wait things out and do like you said (mods) until the opportune moment arrives to get the C-dale.

id just put a bunch of preformence parts on it. i assume what u said about outgrowing it that ur knees hit the handle bars. if what u said was true and u are restoring a car u probably have a large collection of tools. heres what i would do.... use those tools and take a square piece of solid tubing and mark where ur handle bar bolts meet the mounts. then drill it out and see if it fits. u can grind them and make them a cool shape and even get them powerdercoated. that should raise ur bars so ur knees dont hit them.. if u do that dont do it half a$$ take ur time and make it cool and u can make the spacers as high as u need them.

I think you should just keep the quad for something to ride and practice more on it. While your doing that you should start working on your car, then when the car is finished and you have the money then you should buy something bigger and you'd of had time to think of what you really wanted to do and what to get.

Yeah that is the plan I am sticking with now that I have slept on it. In fact I am going to give the 250 to my mom so she has sumthing to ride. I feel bad with her being so supportive and she always in alone in the pits. I let her go on rides and stuff but this way she can go with me now. It would be alot more fun than riding alone by myself and that way it is like she will get double her money back from the use of the Z.

GTF, You made the right decision. Your 250 will be better And after you get your car restored (What are you restoring?) you can then start looking for another quad. Then, you will have two and so on. Build off of what you have. If you take care of these things they will be around for a long time. Wish I still had my first one to pass on to my daughters.

Yeah I had gotten an xr 100 brand new in 2000 and after I got my atv which I wanted and my brother getting a bigger bike ( after being to big for the xr) we were deciding if we should sell it or not. Well, my dad got his yz250 and my mom had ridden a mini bike when she was little so we decided to keep it for her. BTW shes only like 5'2", 100 lbs. so it works out fine and now we can go out riding with the whole family.
