LT500 engine on LT250r Frame!!!

So you really didnt do it? You should have. A friend of mine shoved a lt500 engine into the lt250 frame and ice raced it. It was a helluva screamer in the striaghts and it cornered better than the zillas.

Back in '87 or '88,3&4 wheel action ran an article on some guy who shoe horned a 750cc streetbike motor in a 250r if I recall right for sand drags. Looked funny as he!!, too, cuz his seat was sitting almost right on top of his swingarm.

I haven't taken any photo's of the project yet... I prolly should I guess... Right now it looks like a frame that's been in a fight with a sawzall... and lost.
I'm hunting for some decent used LT500 shocks (Front and rear) to use... I see them all the time on Fleabay, but they are bringing more than I'm willing to pay for that vintage and unknown usage...
As far as the motor... I only have the cases finished so far... new STEEL inserts, and appropriately trenched for the longer stroke. Still waiting on news about rod/sleeve/piston delivery times. I think I'll be really lucky if I have this ready for next summer... It's already been a couple years on the making.
Building a long travel buggy really put this project on the back burner.... Need to get off my butt and finish it up.

Ok marky I'll let you know,Duneaddict,Is that Piston from a sea-doo?Man 97mm crap that's huge. How much is that piston costing you? What is the price on the sleeve and is it from a sea-doo?Is your builder costom cutting the porting for it,I mean the sleeve is going to be blank right?Crap know you have me thinking again on getting the Zilla built bigger.Who is doing your work and can I trust them.I've heard so much crap about ppl. getting ripped off and I don't want none of this stage 4 crap.either the person port's it or he don't,I don't want to pay for paint scratching if you know what I mean.
I really think that if I had it mega bored @ 97mm I definatly could reach the 3.9-4.0 time's on gas and without N.O.S.Heck with that work your having done to my calculation's your engine should be roughly around a 600cc correct?Do they have to do anything to your case's to make the rod length work?Man Dune,my head is just spinning with idea's nowIf you was to get that set up working good the Shee rider's will be suprized with itand if your going to run alky man watch out banshee guy's.Sure wish we lived closer, the secret weapon we could build.
