Powdercoating done, check out pics...

I'll post a few more pics. They got a lot done today. I polished the motor myself with a dremel, alba aluminum polish, a lot of bits, and some use of a buffing wheel on a cordless drill.
The powder I got from Tiger Drylac. Thought we'd need 3 lbs of each, mirror silver and candy red, but we ended up with lots extra. It comes in 2lbs and 5lbs. Getting 2 of the 2lbs is the same price as getting a 5lb.
BigBadScrambler-I like your idea on the rims!
I polished the bottom of the engine too. My boyfriend wouldn't let me polish the cylinders because of heat disipation concerns. I know I have to do the nerfs too. They look a little funny being like a brushed aluminum.

Well, I started with a little fine steel wool and the alba aluminum polish, just a little rubbing with that. Then they have these tips that are white for polishing. I started with the firmer ones. You do a little area at a time. This gets very messy. Put some polish down, dremel it with one of the firmer white polishing tips. When the stuff turns black, wipe it off with a cloth, in a circular motion, because this also polishes. You do this a this until it shines like you want it to. If you can see yourself in it, quite clearly, then buff it with one of the softer polishing tips. After you get it the way you want it, put a little more polish on a cloth, rub it around, and wipe off. Don't plan on doing this in a day. It takes a long time. Well worth it though. If you have a grinding wheel, put a buffing pad on it, for parts that you can pick up. That's how we did the side covers. They come out much better. We've actually been polishing every screw before it goes back in.
