Default lt500 gearing

I just got my 89 zilla back together and went to my first sand drag,it has been ported and polished ,head milled .040 boyseen reeds,dg pipe and silencer. It has a 13front and 40 tooth rear sprocket and i would like to be able to start off in second gear instead of first and it bog trying to run 2nd.Im running 22x11x8 10 paddle extremes. What sprockets are you runnning?I think i might change the rear up a couple teeth and change the front to a 14 tooth when im not racing. THANKS Jason.

I'm by no means an expert dragger, but if I were you, I'd keep the rear 40 and try a front 12 for dragging since the front sprockets are so cheap. You should be able to easily start out in 2nd then.

I run 14 and 42 on my Zilla with custom cut Padla Brat's. I usually leave the line WFO in 2nd gear.......

I would go with the 14 tooth front and adjust the rear for the ratio you want. Divide the rear by the front and that gives you the gear ratio 13/40= 3.08 or you could look here gearing chart . The larger front sprocket is easier on the chain especially if you have a high horespower machine. Don't forget you may need a longer chain.

In sand or on pavement would a 14 tooth front and a 40 tooth rear be suitable? or would it bog out my bike? I recently put the 14 tooth on the front, I wanted a little more top end, but, I'm going to the dunes in a few weeks and am not quite sure this was a good choice? when I was running a 13 tooth front and a 40 rear, my bike kicked ****. what is going to be the out come with my new changes? all your help would be greatly appreciated~

Currrently: I have 23/7-10's on front and 22/11-10's on back
When I go to the dunes I would like to keep the front tires on and replace rear with 20/10-10's triple buff haulers.

I am going to be racing my buddy's YFZ450, so, in short please lend a hand to a fellow zilla rider~
Quadzilla's for life!!

Just to help out a bit, pump the front's up it will help them float on top of the sand better.I pump mine to 16 pound's and in the rear I only run 3 pound's for better traction.
