Hey NY 'ERS How does this Registration thing work???
#1
I just bought a '92 trx250x and it came WITH the registration card & WITH the tag.
The people said thats how the machine was sold to them from the CURRENT REGISTERED OWNER.
Is this how this kinda stuff goes?? I thought that this was very weird to me, me on the other hand
don't deal with NYS when it comes to registering atv's cause they don't give us enough support.

I would think that you would have to get it registered in your name. I'm dont know much about registration, but it would make sense to me that ya would have to get it switched over to your name. My uncle in NY had to get his Grizzly registered, now hes got that stupid license plate strapped to the backend. Your best bet would probably be to call the DMV and ask them about the registration.
And dang, what is up with the forums, it highlights "forbidden words." Guess things have changed since I was last on. I never knew d*orky was forbidden!

On the back of the registration card they gave you, there is a spot to sign for a transfer. Sign away and take your card and your bill of sale to DMV to get your new plates and registration. At that point, you will have to pay sales tax on what you actually paid for the machine..... KINDA SUX. Fudge up some figure ,if you know what i mean. BEFORE I go to DMV ?? What about the tags that are on it right now ? Do I turn them in
or do they stay on the vehicle ??

U will turn them in..... If you have a bill of sale , you might need it. I thought i was going to need it when i bought a used wolverine. After i filled out all the paper work ,they didnt even ask me for it. I could have writen any amount down and they wouldnt of had a clue. Thank god the guy only wrote me a bill for half the price. If i were you , i would just state on the form that the machine was like 500.00 and say you didnt get a bill of sale.
