pipe, intake, and jet either of the 450's and they fly! They stay reletively the same in torque, and HP...i believe something was said about on a dyno run the piped jetted YFZ ran 43hp and the R ran 42!.......
You would be hard pressed to get a Z to hit those kind of numbers just from those minor mods!
Its insane how corked up the 450's are from the factory...

Absolutely. If you mod the 450s they will respond well. I am referring to a stock bike. If you have the $$ to by a $6500 bike and then put another $500 into the basics. After all it's just money.
I would choose the 450R over the YFZ as the YFZ feels more mx specific. OTOH e-start is handy as well. I would not want the YFZ for a trail bike though. It is just not a comfie bike to cruise on. The 450R is a little better but, neither like to lug along.
I still say the Z400 with moderate modifications is a very well-rounded bike. More so than any other sport quad.

thanks alot.....ima need it!!!
Scrambler: yah it was u that mentioned those numbers, they sound about right... I have heard like i said around 50's and up on the YFZ with full bolt-ons.....i donno whether thats true or not but that would be a hell of a machine, heh if it were to hold together!
I am going to go with the 450R...i just cant turn it down......im a lil upset only because i was sure i was going to be doing another Z400!
Sorry to get you all psyched on the fact that it was gonna go....its just with the 450R....i dont have to mod it as much to be quite as competative, most of it is already done!!!
I have a feeling that it will actually handled a lil better then the Z, and in the power department, its got all i will need without having to go into the motor hardcore! I can do my basic boltons and be set for a while.... I of course will be doing a HotCam....as i dont like the HRC Kit because i feel i can get more air into it through the UM Airbox and the ProFlow K&N no lid!
Im thinking factory 4 exhaust system, but the Yoshi is up there also!
I should have my new machine by the upcomming weekend that way i can have ample time to get accustom to it!
I am definately lookin foreward to gettin this thing rollin! I will still continue to post in ur guys's forum, seems like a great bunch of ppl over here...
I get kinda bored and tired of some of the BS over in the Yamaha forum.
Ill keep you all updated, and will get pics as i go along!

Those hondas 450r suck!!!!!!!! I drag raced four of them 3 weekends ago. Lined up with a stock, a LRD cam package , a piped one, and another stock one. MY quad at the time had everythings besides my new cams and nos. So that would be a rev box, intake, and full yoshi. We raced at least 5 times with a flagger and beat all of them in the 300 foot drag!!!! Besides not all of them have easy kick starts.
