I own a Lt-230S QuadSport 87 that is stock with motor freshly rebuilt.My sprockets are 13-39.I have 20-12-9 rear tires.

My top speed is between 46mph and 50mph.

Maybe a clutch problem but im not sure.

What is the speed of a stock QuadSport 230 87 ?? And If You own one,what is your speed and list your mods plz.

 

Stock is right under 50mph.

 

I have just bought a '87 lt230s. lots of work to be done on it. it has a 12-42 sproket. is that to low? i am by no means a light guy, 6'2" 250 pounds, is this a good ratio? i dont care to much about flying down the trails but i dont want to go extremely slow. any help would be much appreciated.

 

12:42 isn't bad. It will give you lots of power but have a slower top speed. It will accelerate faster.

 

I ran mine through a radar run (it was an '88) and was clocked at 52 mph. This was with a set of 25-12X8 Spider Tracs on the back and a Cobra exhaust with no baffle (it fell out and rolled off a hillside.....never found it). Stock I am guessing I was easily getting 55 mph.

 

Wouldn't it have went slower stock with the 22 inch tires?

 

the stock tires allowed the machine to rev out. The Spider Tracs were too heavy.

 

I clocked mine at 63mph flat out.

The pipe is a universal E-series from Dennis Kirk. It was $150.00. Just got a Lt250r and havent taken any pics of the 230s, but I will when I take pics of the R.
