Hey guys. I really love my suzuki LT-Z400 its fun, best for jumping, but im not quiete satisfied with the low end power it has. It just doesint pick up as fast as a raptor 660 or a V force. What can i do to boost up the low end without using too much money. im willing to put between 200 to 300 buck$ in my Z to mod it. i know a K&n filter and a pipe would pick up the pace a bit, but i want some opinions. oh yeah and is it bad to do a wheelie, while using your clutch to get the front end up? ok thanx guys!

 

get a front sprocket with 1 or 2 less teeth. you'll lose top end but your bottom end will be alot faster. It isn't really that bad to pop the clutch to get up in a wheelie but you'll wear out your clutch plates faster. You could also try smaller back tires. But if you're willing to put $300 into your quad, definitly get a new exhaust

 

If you are willing to spend up to 300.00 get yourself an HMF slip-on pipe. You can get them for like 22.00 off of ebay if you want to go that route. You will need to rejet. I would also pull the lid off your airbox. Iwould also goon tooth smaler on your front sprocket. Cost you less then 20.00 and easy to do.

 

hey thanx for the advice. the problem is, im kinda looking on improving my low end and my top end speed. i got 68 mph on my top end, stock! i thought that wasint too bad, but i want a little more top end and alot more low end. so if i want both i guess it might not be too good to do anything to the sprockets. whats the price for rejetting my Z? and how does the gas efficiancy change?

 

rejetting will cost about 50 bucks. there's different sizes. the bigger the jet, the more gas it lets out. the numbers are like for example 180, 175 190 like those kind of numbers.if you get a bigger jet, you might need to take off the airbox lid to let in more air as well

 

If that's the case. Start by removing the lid and snorkel from the airbox. By the jet kit and rejet. it my take a couple of tries to get it right. A cam change would also help you there. You could also cut the front fenders. It really help keep the nose down on the holeshot. Just take a look at my pics that way you can have an idea of what it would look like.

 

I too think the stock Z400 is pretty lame on the low end! I did a vented airbox lid (http://www.ehsracing.com/), K&N with Outerwears, FMF PowerBomb Header and Ti-4 Muffler. REALLY PERKED UP THE LOW END, and gained lots on top too. Trouble is, the thing is LOUD! I am putting a quietcore in right now.......less sound, more ground.
