OK, a k&n should let in a little more air regardless of your airbox config. If you took off the lid you would get more air yet. You should not have to go down in the jet size. If you have to do that to make it run right then you may have a carb problem.

The reason I had to mess with the jetting in the first place was because of the Rad Valve. Your saying even with this mod. the jetting should NOT require drastic changes like I had to do?

I kept the jetting the same after the rebuild. My cylinder is still at the shop but I have decided to go up to a 220 main to start with.

I never messed with the pilot jet. Should I go larger on both the pilot and up another size on the main to a 230 just to be safe?

I also plain on switching to Golden Spectro and a 32:1 mixture.
A 210 is DEFINITELY too lean for your application unless your like at 10k feet elevation. My 86 (which flows less air than a PV engine and is not ported) requires a 230 main for 32:1. Something may be wrong with your reeds. Remember switching to 32:1 will require richer jetting than at 40:1.

When I was at a 250 main after the Rad Valve was installed this thing would practically stall when you tried to accelerate. It wasn't until I got down to a 210 that it finally ran right. Sounds like I could have something else not right in the carb beyond the jetting?

I also have a rad valve and did not mess with my jetting. I beleive I have a 250 in mine. I would definitly rebuild the carb and check your reeds. No matter what you do, you need to get your jetting figured out before you blow the engine again.
