Default Stupid FMF pipe!

I just got my FMF gold series pipe and I had a HARD time putting it on...well I got it on but now its hitting the head and the frame. I gave it a couple of good pulls and I think I made it fit better but Im not sure. Anyone else have problems with the pipe not fitting?

Pipes are one of those things. Sometimes they go on perfectly, and other times I am throwing the wrench across the driveway in disgust.

I have the same pipe on my 87. It was not that difficult to install. The key is to put the header and the pipe on at the same time. When I did it this way, it slipped right on. I then put the nuts on the header and tightend her up.

My pipe does not hit the frame or the head. Not sure how the pipe can hit the head with the header holding it in place. Got any pics?

I had same pipe and it hit the head. It has a dent I believe where the head is already from factory If I recall correctly. well I take that back it hit my cool head not stock head. I put bigger dent in it where it hit so it wont hit no more. One day at Pismo it just ripped the mounting tab off pipe and screwed pipe up with huge exhaust leak etc. friend let me borrow his Paul turner pipe a week later off his spare quad and after using that I bough it from him will never go back to FMF again. I wish I could tell you how much you are missing using FMF if you can send that sucker back and get a better pipe!

cali-Civilization is closing in on us. When I was a kid, we use to ride Reche and San Timoteo Canyons, and they were wide open. Now, it's mostly housing tracts. Fortunately, a friend of mine owns 400 acres in the hills south of town!

Don't know how familiar you are with the area. There are the San Bernardino Mountains. Lots of nice trails and fire roads, but the best of it is closed for fire season. The high desert has lost of great riding too.

What you studying at Cal State??? E-mail me when you get to town if you want to ride sometime. We have a pretty good size group that rides together.

I'll be sure to email you when I move. I'll be studying accounting and will hopefully finish in 2yrs. Im not familiar with riding areas but I am familiar with streets and highways and such. I was at La Sierra University at Riverside back in 2001 so I know some of the area.

cali-I taught at La Sierra for 10 years. I now have a medical research lab at LLU.

If you go south from the freeway on Mountain View Ave., you will come to Hulda Crooks park. All the land to the east/southeast of the park belongs to my friend. He is a great guy and also rides, but he lets everybody use it (it has become kind of an open space park), so when we ride, we have to be VERY carefull of other users (hikers, horses, dirt bikes, etc.). I already crashed once with a dirt bike, that cut in front of me.

We also do a long weekend ride at least once a month. Usually Rasor Road or Ocotillo Wells in the cool months, and the Bishop/Mammoth area in the hot months. We have about 10 families that ride together, and about 50 riders.
