Forgot , one other thing since last here.
The 400 ex shocks DO bolt right up and ARE a massive improvement over the 15 year old stock ones. However, you will need to tweak your alignment.
Wasnt a big deal, and now the front is sooooo much softer.

All I had to do was align using adjustment to the tie rods, Im goin to have to replace soon anyway, so I am going to make new ones using heim joints. Adjusting the stock ones is easy though, just takes a 14mm wrench to undo the lock nut, When adjusting , have someone sit on the bike so you can see the compressed height though.

correct, ride height overall changed so little it is barely noticable when the machine is stiing, when you are on it, i couldnt even notice.

The front does sit higher when no one is on the machine, from the measurements I took when on the machine, resting height was the same as the old shocks.

I couldnt tell you about that one. The only reason I know about the 87 and up, I scoured the web for months trying to get an answer. Nobody was sure, so I finally said screw it, spent $40 on some 400 shocks and stuck them on. I was shocked at the improveent, and for the record, shocked no one had done this conclusively before. I always look for other interchangeable parts, couldnt hurt for some new technology on these old rides.

Thats the whole point, i rode a pretty good mx track like 3 weeks ago, the 400 ex shocks soaked everything up great (compared to stock)
