Default Vinson downhill braking..Auto vs. Manual

How does the auto trans. braking work compared to the manual. I had a Polaris without EBS and it didn't hold back. Do u have to use your brakes when descending downhill on the auto Vinson.....Thanks

The Vinson auto has excellent engine braking. Ive rode both styles and perfer the auto it seems smoother on the transition. Plus unlike polaris you can use the engine braking while in 4 wheel dv, as the polaris 4x4 only engages when the rear wheels spin 20% faster than the fronts, which really sucks when going down knarly hills. some people will pefer the manual because they like to be in control.

I ride an 02 Vinson auto and my brother has an 04.5 Sportsman 500 and it has far superior engine braking after comparing both. On the steepest grades with the Vinnie (in low range) you've got to bear down hard on the brakes ALL THE TIME. On the Sportsman you rarely have to use the brakes in low range. In fact, on some hills that I brake with the Vinson I'm actually on the gas a little in low range on the Sportsman. I can't believe the difference!

My auto Vinson has great engine breaking. I live in very hilly area and have not had any problems controlling it on the down hill.
