I have an 87 LT500R with the stock pipes and there kinda rusty. how would i go about taking off all the rust fast and effective.

 

The only way I know how to get it off is take the pipe off like I did and take a wire brush to it. They make some stuff that is called RUST KILL but I don't think it would take the rust off . It would just prevent it from rusting any more.

yea rust kill works umm try lime away and scrub hard othwise paint it lol

 

get some heat resistant tremco paint in the color of your pipe. thats what i do, and to the untrained eye, it looks brand new

 

The only thing I've done to clean my pipe on my Raptor was pressure was the hell out of it, once it is dryed I sanded it down with steel sand paper, mainly just got all the dirt/rust colour off without tearing in my hands. If you wanna keep it a silver steel look that's fine just leave it, but I'd just heat paint it, and look at the results then.

 

id buy an after market pipe and chuck the stock one . My 2 cents

im thinkin about buyin a new pipe over winter when i rebiuld it and repaint it. what pipe should i get??? Trinity, Paul Turner, or LRD??

 

yea get a wire brush and brush it the then when your done paint it with some flat black high temp exaust or engine paint
