Default assembling crankcase/problem

Im putting together the bottom end of my quadracer, and when i put the two cases together, the crank spins freely, but when i tighten the bolts that hold the two cases together, the crank is harder to spin.I dont hear it rubbing anything,it just seems like pressure is being put on the bearings. Ive tightened the bolts in numerous patterns, but the same thing happens everytime, this is a brand new crank and new crankbearings. Is that normal? or am i assembling it wrong?

sounds like there is a clearance prob . it should tighten a LITTLE bit but not much . are the bearings for the correct year cases ? might be different for different years . make sure the bearings are fully seated against the crank . also crank could be not together all the way . just some options for you to look at hope it helps .

I think Don is on it. The only way that I know how to check this is take everything out of the case and then bolt them back together again. Take a verner calipar and measure the inside of the case and then measure the outside of the crank with the bearings in place. Do the math and see if your too wide on the crank.

Sometimes it can feel a little tight at first. Not so much that you can't turn it without to much force. I like to pre oil the bearings during the install. There will be some resistance, but not much.
