Default Ims z400 gas tank

I dont have a z400 yet, but i was thinking that the 2.6 gallon tank would be too small for trail riding. I have a few questions. Does the ims gas tank come with a normal hole to put gas in or does it have that racing type quick fill hole? Is their any way I can get a gas gauge for the stock tank or for the ims tank? thanks.

I have a stock Z and can easily get 100 to 120 miles before going to reserve. That's on a mix of winding trails and straight logging roads. And I'm not happy unless I"m sliding throught turns!

Yep, I'm sure. Of course it's going to very some depending on your driving habbits and where you are riding. Dirtwheels is full of dirt! I could get way better than 50 miles on a tank even if I was pulling a polaris!! I have a Trail Tech computer on my Z that's how I keep track of distance.

what i have been wondering is with a manual quad (i have always ridden autos) do you use less gas in a really high gear at not giving it much throttle, or do you use more gas in a lower gear giving it alot of gas? cause i was wondering if i ever get low on gas if I could just put it in a high gear and keep the throttle low so i would make it home without running out of gas.

You could Put a "Y" after your petcock and then drill a hole in the top of your tank and screw an elbow in there and then connect a clear hose on the outside and it would give you a sight? just an idea.

On our trails in washington my buddy is lucky to get 50 miles on his z400. they are way more fuel efficient on open roads and trails where your in fifth gear or whatever. in the trails in 2nd gear pretty much you dont go as far.

Yes, keeping the machine in a high gear at low RPM's will give you a bit of fuel savings. But you dont want to go tooo slow and lug it because that is not supposed to be good for them.
