For more information on oil then you could ever use go to this web page and read to you hearts content. I have a degree in chemistry and it still made my head spin.

I use Mobile red cap 15-50 in everything I own. Buy it at Walmart for $20.00 for 5 quarts. Quads never go more than 20 hours on an oil change. Things currently at my house running on Mobile 1:

Honda ATC 70
Yamaha TTR 90
Yamaha TTR 125
Suzuki LT160
Yamaha Bear Tracker 250
Honda 400 EX
Grizzly 660
Yamaha YZ426
Honda XR650
Kawasaki KLR 650
Suzuki GSXR 1300

After 700 Miles i switched to synthetic oil. I own a Vinson Manual shift. The only oil i use and will ever use is Amsoil. It has to be the best oil out there today. Im sure some people will disagree. I use it exclusivley in all my Cars ,trucks, quads, lawn mowers weedwackers everything i have with a motor on it. Never had a problem. Do a little readiing about AMSOIL. Once you start using it, you'll love it. Here is what im using in the Vinson. What a difference it makes in shifting and any heat issues you might have had in the past. AMSOIL - Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-40

Hope this helps,
Zig

i put AMSOIL 10w-30 in at the first change and now have 1200 miles on it and it's still light color and full It also makes it a lot easier and sounds a lot better while shifting. I will back up ZigZilla on this one I LOVE THE STUFF I use AMSOIL in everything both quads the weedwacker the lawnmower the car and have some in a can to squrit it on things

Do a search on the word "synthetic" and maybe even try "oil". You will fine a bunch of posts, with a bunch of different opinions!

Another great article:

Amsoil Formula 4 Stroke 0w-40 is the way to go use it in all my quads Polaris, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki.

At my first change (80 miles) I went with Castrol Synthetic blend. "Seems" like now my tranny shifts easier, and my fan hardly comes on at all any more.
I'd say GO FOR IT! SYNTHETIC RULES!!
