Hey all. I was riding my quad in the sand pits, and i realized 13/42 gearing was a little too tall for the deep sand and tall dunes. The stock came with a 12tooth. Im buying an 11tooth, but somewear i heard not to run lower then 12 because the sproket can snap. I dont know what size my chain is. Its stock size though. 86 LT but all years used same gears/chain. Thanks for all help. oh yea, NEVER run a Clamp-on filter in the sand pits!!! use the airbox. ..

 

stock chain was a 520 /102 tooth I think

 

I had an '86 too and ran an 11. Worked great for me. Most of my riding included places you'd need to crawl and this helped a bunch. And mucky is right on chain size too.

 

If you've still got the 22" tires in your pics, that's making your gearing taller also. I've never run an 11T but as long as it clears everything, I don't think there would be a problem.

LOL. i have holeshot XCR's. Their Coming in the mail, supposed to come tuesday or wensday. Also, i put a clamp on filter, just that was the 1st run in like a year so i just put it on for pics. Also, i put the airbox on because it messed up my jetting and it got dirty in like 1hr. i got the 11tooth for climbing tall sandy dunes.
