I have a 1985 LT 230 that smokes too much. It has tons of power but blows oil smoke out the rear- before I take it apart, does anybody know of something simple to check before I take apart the top end?

doesnt the lt230 run on mixed oil with gas....? if it does, then your oil to gas mixture it too rich, if it doesnt have mixed oil, then there is probably a problem with the oil pump.. it is pumping to much oil into the gas...

 

My 85 LT 230 is a four stroke engine that smokes - the nicotine patch didn't work- open for suggestions-

 

need to get her bored, .020 over at least, and order a wiseco piston to match. or/and new valve seals.

all ur looking at is the oil ring if ur cheap or bore it over and new piston and valves i had the same problem if u take the top end off and take the oil ring off and turn it over and that will give u a couple rides wit hardly any smoke the 230s were known to have sh!ty oil rings

 

LT249r the 230 is not 2 stroke it dont use a oil pump or mix gas and oil
