Default KQ Recoil starting/alignment

I'm pretty strong and i was fooling around trying to start this 700 with the recoil pulley, and it was almost impossible to start. I know the engines still tight, but it really needs some kind of compression release. Also if you have a KQ, can u tell me if your front tires are toed out, mine don't look right.

Default KQ Recoil starting/alignment

11/30/2004

Kegcan,

I know this post is a little old... But my new KQ is also showing toe out.. I haven't measured how much but I'm going to set it to 1/8 toe in. I don't like the why it turns in right now maybe that will help some...

As far as the pull start is concerned... I would have to be pretty desperate to get it started with that... LOL

Does anyone else run a little toe in on their 4X4 quads????

Later,

Hibrass

The King Quad is supposed to have toe out. It can be deceiving how much it has due to the shape of the plastic. When I first looked at mine, I thought it had way too much but when I measured it, the toe was in spec. Every 4x4 quad I have owned was supposed to have toe out so this is normal.

Says to check with 165 lbs on the seat. Toe out should be .39 +/- .16 in. So that's a little better than 3/8" toe out. You measure the center to center at the rear of the tires, and center to center at the front, should be aprox 3/8 wider in the front. You should try to measure up as high as you can, even with the centerline of the wheel.

I haven't tried to use the pull start. Guess it would be a good idea to see how that works. Even with a dead battery, the EFI will work. At least that is what the manual says.

The first time i pulled on the rope i just about strained something. After i turned the key on and took the slack out it actually pulled easyer than i expected.I have not noticed the toe out but love the way it handles.

Thanks for the info, made me want to pull out a string and straighten the tires out. Read somewhere the toe out is suppose to help the handling.

Mine fires right up with no problem.

Is it supposed to be hard?

It is a little harder than my Husqvarna 55 Rancher chain saw but I think that is to be expected!

Would you set the toe out different if you weigh more than 165 Lbs.?

Dozer,

I have been wrestling with this question myself.. On my AutoX car I would adjust my toe based on the amount of camber and caster... Toe out on my street car will make it and wonder around and steer harder much like what my KQ is doing at hi speeds... I do weigh 2 bills, so I'm going to load the chassie and reset the toe to 1/16 ToeIn and see how it handles and tracks... It certainly couldn't make it worse... LOL I will let you guys know what I find out after I've had a chance to run it next weekend...

Later,

Hibrass
