Muddy4Life – Thank you very much for all your advice, and yes he did let my 14 year old son drive it. In fact we stood outside in the parking lot talking about the price of the quads ($6805 each) while my son drove the red quad on the test track. I did not know about this law and I’m not trying to get this guy in trouble but he should have known better. I’m debating if I should call and report him, he already thinks I am.
Raven1- I thank you also your advice has been very help also. This morning I went to a different dealer to buy the Eiger-400 and after having my son sit on it, it seemed to fit him ok, but the dealer almost would not sell it to me because thought it was for my son! Those 90cc don’t even come close to fitting him, doesn’t look right either. So I was out of the dealer by 10:30am with the Eiger on the trailer with the KQ’s. I took the wife and my son to a place called Rampart Range south of Denver and had one of the best times ever as a family should have gotten 3 ATV’s to begin with. We got really wet & Muddy and the wife had a blast, Snow makes things a little more difficult but fun.
First complaint on the KQ I really don’t like that rev limiter when you lock the frt axels.
Again thanks for the advice Raven1
ElectricShift – Yes I did get the paper work for that, I was hopping my Son could take the course but he can’t because he’s only 14, and the quad is a 700cc so the wife and I are going to take it. The way it looks my son won’t be able to take a course on his new Eiger-400 because it’s not less that 90cc’s either. I understand now, why they won’t give him a training class, but it sure seems like if he’s going to ATV regardless some training would be better than none!

Did you know that the atv safety institute will provide a quad during the traing for you and any one who resides at your residence fo free?
They will make him ride a 90cc but he would still get the course. They will not let him ride anything bigger than a 90. All you need to do is call them and schedule it. Your wife and you need to attend if your going to be riding, you will learn a lot.

QUADDUCK,
Sorry Sir,but you mis-informed our friend.I work for the ATV Safety Institute and they will NOT give you a safety course for FREE on a 90cc ATV UNLESS you purchased a NEW 90cc [or less] from a manufacture that PARTICIPATES in the safety program. And your youth would have to be between the ages of 12-15yrs old to ride the 90cc or less to participate.
Our friend with the 14yr old boy who purchased 2 King Quads will have to PAY [75 bucks] for his sons safety course and they will FORCE him to ride a 90cc ATV or less.
He[adult OWNER] will receive a 100 dollar check for taking the safety course on his KQ AND he will receive ANOTHER 100 bucks for his wife taking the safety course on his OTHER KQ,for a total of 200 bucks.

Well,
the instructor might have giving this particular student a FREE safety course? The problem here is that if he did, than the instructor would NOT be paid for instructing this student and the ATV Safety Institute would not get one cent for the class materials that this instructor GAVE this student.
And since I dont work for FREE[especially on the WEEKENDS]its not something I'd do.
I have felt sorry for a few students before and give them a free safety class thru my OWN ATV Safety ASSOC before, where I incurred all the losses, and NOT the company.
