HP of an old suzuki LT
#1
i know this has been KILLED, but i tried the search and never asked so here it goes. I know the top speed and the HP of an PV LT, but anyone know the stock power of a Non-PV Lt250R and top speed? and maybee what im running around now? My wild guess is about 37horse, 74mph? does this sound correct? Plz look at my mods. Thank you and have a nice day.

I don't think 74 would be right with stock gearing because it only has 5 gears. Mine goes about 65 and I read the hp somewhere, I thought it was around 30, don't quote. It doesn't take much to add hp though.

Actually, the peak hp of the 85/86 lt250's isn't much different than the 87-92's. Remember, the "Power Valve" on the newer engines actually works like an extra expansion chamber at low RPM's that helps the low end torque. At higer RPM's where your max HP is, it doesn't do anything. No doubt the newer engines have more torque and this extra torque is a huge advantage. But speaking pure horsepower, I'd say the stock 85 and 86 have about the same as the newer ones which is around 32. Also, even though the 85/86 don't have PV's, remember that they only weigh 293 lbs which helps overcome some of the deficit. Still, being a 5 speed, I'd say stock mph is in the high 60's, but probably not 70. The stock 87's went around 72-73 with their 6 speeds.

I didn't want to attemp to tell you how fast your quad would go with its mods. That's impossible to say because depending on the shape of everything and the quality of the work, it could be way faster than stock or it could even be slower. What I can tell you is that just with taller than stock gearing alone, it is possible to break the 70 mph mark if your engine is fresh and you're running on pavement.
