In what way is the eiger best?
how do you plan on using it?
A kodiak has irs, which may or may not be a plus for you.
The kodiak has a selectable, locking front diff...if youre going mudding, youll want this.
The kodiak has higher horsepower and torque. And higher top speed.

I am not sure there is a direct comparision between the 2 machines. The Eiger is a great quad, especially for the price! But the Yamaha is loaded with features and a more powerful machine as has been noted here.
If price and features would be the basis of comparision, then look at the King Quad,...not all that much more money and a lot more power.
If for some reason I was stuck at getting something under 500cc and cost was not a factor, the Yamaha is the machine.

I'm team Sukuki all the way but I'm sorry to say that the Kodiak 450 would win hands down. The Eiger rules the 400cc class though. The Yamaha 450 is a wierd animal because it really doesn't have a class. Isn't the Kodiak more money too? If you are willing to pay the money for a Kodiak you are better off getting a Sukuki Vinson 500 and call it a day.

No the Vinson does not have a locker but will still kick the butt of a Kodiak 450 or the Eiger in mud, trails, water, mountains, or anything else you throw at it. If you are a real hardcore mudder then you will want a 700cc machine anyway with crazy 27' or 28" tires and lift kit. If you're not into that then the Vinson will keep up or beat any ATV out there. I ride with many many different machines and that's a fact not an opinion.
