LT250R Trans Fluid

I'm trying to help a friend fix up an 86 250R and he needs to know how much and what fluid to put in after he changes his clutches.. Local shop said 20w50 but wouldnt tell him how much.. Thanks for any help

That oil sounds fine. It will take a quart (maybe a little more). Fill it 'till you can touch the oil with your finger (you can only put your finger in so far).
Just looked at the quad: Use the oil check screw (the Fl350 uses the finger method).

I just changed the fluid in my 86 Quad Racer. What you need is 900cc of either 20W50, or a high grade 2 stroke tranny oil. Drain the old stuff out and let it drip for about 10 minutes. Put the plug back in. look down by the water pump and you will see a screw/hex in the case between the water pump and the clutch. (its the only screw/hex plug in the center of the side case). fill up the tranny until you see oil coming out of that side plug. its much like filling a differential in a truck. when it stops oozing out the side, plug it and your good to go.
