Winch install on a KQ
The wires from the solenoid are supposed to go directly to the battery. Just make sure everything is tight and they don't rub on anything. Getting the power from the outlet is fine as well. Personally, I always install a toggle switch on that lead just as extra insurance so if you do accidentally bump your winch switch, it will not run and possibly do damage to your machine. If you had your hook connected to something up front and hit the switch by accident for instance, you could end up bending what it is connected to. A simple toggle on the switch power lead helps prevent this.
The bolt pattern for the Warn 3.0 and 2.5 are the same. The mount should work although the winch will be sitting a little further to the left (when sitting on the quad) with the 3.0 than the 2.5 . Looks to be about 1 1/2" further. AP sells both with the same mount so I would guess it will work just fine. The stock plate and 2.5 actually sit offset to the right so there is room to shift left.
