I just picked up this quad. The guy i got it from said the engine was idling and it just stopped. The pull cord wont pull and the engine seems to be locked. He said he did get it to run after that. then it locked up again. His mechanic said its something with the clutch.

Has anyone had a problem with these before? Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a service manual ordered but its not here yet.

Any help would be appreciated. Im going to work on it tomorrow sometime.

Update: I found out there was no oil in the engine. He had a problem with the starter and took it off. The oil was being blown out the starter hole that was left open. It doesnt run yet but it will. It coughed today but i need to get the starter rebuilt.

Does anyone know how to rebuild a starter? Is it easy or should i have it done?
