LOL!!! Done that, loud as hell, burns your leg, and pops like crazy.

As for your question, any aftermarket pipe will make your quad sound louder than it is, and loud does get annoying.

 

until u know what ur getting with a loud pipe I suggest u take the spark arrestor out of the stock pipe ( little allen wrench bolt under the very end tip of pipe) and ride it a little bit I gaurantee it would be just right for you if not too loud even

I have a LT230E (same but different as a Z250), I just cannot see any worthwhile gain.
There are 2 theorys::
Harley Theory= Loud pipes save lives
Quad theory=loud pipes close riding areas.

The loud factor is going to snowball fast on us.If you were to go to another site that is more GNC and GNCC related, you will see threads on how the GNC pro's WILL be Db checked at every race this year. Amatures are soon to follow. Some replys explain how tracks are getting shut down and/or sued for excessive Db's.

 

jus let the kid do what he wants to do, if he wants a loud pipe then help him out, if he wants to quiet it down then help him out. if he was askin for help on makin it quieter im sure every1 complainin bout loud pipes would be helpin him out. im not tryin to aggrivate any1 but the kid asked for help, give him help. dont try and be the kids parents. im sure if u were kids ud want somethin that sounds cool. and loud bikes sound cool. i would never get tired of the loud braaap of a 2stroke or the thundering thump of a 4 stroke. my favorite is when bikes are lined up at the gates revvin their 2smokers and thumpers. the spark arrestor has a baffle system in it that puts it at the 87db sound level. im not sure bout ur type of muffler, but on my honda if u want to take the spark arrestor out then u gotta take the baffle out

hey NBake do you know what the db's are on a stock z400? Cuz im thinking of getting an aftermarket pipe. I want some thing loud but nno excessively loud. Most pipes I haved looked into getting are around 96 to 98 db's. Is that loud?
