Default 86 lt230s

I recently bought a 86 lt230s and had to put a new swing arm on it...bearings ect. I took the rear end apart and found that this bike has tapered bearings in the axle. I look at bearing kits online, and find that they are all flat bearings and wondered if somehow the axle housing is from another bike that fit exactly, or possible aftermarket. I would like to know what bearings the rest of the lt230s guys have in their axle, and any info anyone might have on this bike as this is my first 230s I have ever worked on...thank you....Bill

Hey there,

It sounds like it. The original axle carrier had flat bearings and then flat rubber dust seals over top of those on each end. http://vincescycle.tripod.com/images/rbskit.jpg Take a look at this site for an example.

THIS IS THE ONE THAT ONE THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE ON THE BIKE.

THIS IS THE ONE THEY MADE FOR THE LT230E Quadrunner (NO CLUTCH/ELECTRIC START)

If you have a carrier that looks different it was probably off of a later model Kawasaki Mojave. Check with Vince at Vince's cycle or on ebay to see what some of the Bearing Sales guys have to say.

I hope I helped!! Good Luck!!!
