Default lt250r ignition timing

I just recently put my lt250r engine back together. I tried kicking it over and it wont start. It is getting fuel, it has LOTS of compression but it wont start. It will fire once and that is it, but it wont keep going. I think it is my ignition timing but i dont know how to change or adjust the timing. Does anybody know how? I have a manual but it says that you cant adjust the timing on the lt250r. im gonna try putting a new plug in it and c if that helps any. We even got frustrated and put ether in the cyl. to make it fire (even tho its a big no no) and it would still only fire once. It has good spark, so the only thing i can think of is the ignition timing. Can anybody help me out? thanx

my LT did the same thing...mine was an 86. I advanced the timing a hair and it seemed to run the best their.... you can adjust the timing, you have to take the magneto off, and theirs a plate the coils are on, loosen up the 3 philips screews, and tilt the plate to either side.

I tried the spark plug and it just did the same thing as before. Its wicked cold here in NY so as soon as i can figure out a way to get some heat in my garage im gonna take the side casing off and try doing what you suggested. I gotta order a flywheel puller too. thanx again for your help
