i would stay away from that thing, if you really want a q-racer, get a 1992, to me the newer the better, and 1992s had the hammerhead seat, some love it some hate it, jmho.
i agree 100% if you cant see it ride it and inspect it, forget it. when i got my 400ex, i went down to the guys house, and it was in a nice area in a nice neiborhood, nice house 2. got there, and wow what a super friendly guy, it made giving him my worked for money a lot more at ease. the first time i went down i just looked at it, and knew from what he told me he wasnt lyeing. he told me right away when i sat on it, go start it up and take it around my block.
well i went back the next day with CASH, and got him down like 400 bucks, i think he wanted 3200, and i got it for 2800$ with boots, and all that came with the 400.
my view being is look in your paper, you arent locked in on price so much. and you can go and ride it.

either way if you could pick it up for $500 - $700 it would be worth it.... part it out on ebay and use the profits to buy a decent bike. And if you really want a quadracer look for an 87+, the powervalve motors make more power than the earlier powerplants.

well mine did the same thing...you would start it..it would run for about 45 min then it would die...til it cooled down..we found a short in the starter coil where sitting water would short it out...but now we've redid the topend 3x like i said
