New Pictures of my HSD A-Arms and 15" Works shocks
#1
I just added a couple of pictures to my page (might have to wait for it to be approved). They show my new HSD +3 A-Arms, relocated upper shock mount and 87-92 length Works shocks. This should help answer all the 'I want to put longer shocks on my 85-86 LT' questions. Now if I could only find a good deal on a Zilla engine....

Looks nice... if you don't mind me asking... what did the A-arms cost?
I really need to do this to mine, but I'm guessing it's way more $$$ than I'm willing to spend. Looks like another couple weeks in the fabrication shop for me.
I'm planning on building a lightweight aluminum removable subframe too... removing all the full floater stuff, and having a direct link shock (SHould be good for about 12" of travel)
All this lightweight stuff and a big motor = yahoo!

HSD's website lists $675 for the A-Arm kit but I paid $575, which was the old price. I ordered mine back in April and was waiting for enough orders for him to make a production run until late November. Maybe the extra $100 will save you the wait. The shock bracket was $100 and the ugraded tie rods and ends were $113. It was WAY more than I wanted to spend but they are the only company I've ever found that makes them for the early LT's and I've never seen anything come up on fleabay either. The quality of the arms is excellent and the welding fixture he sent to locate the shock mount made it super easy and was dead on *****.
BTW the Doc put up a set of superlight arms on ebay a while back but I don't think he got any bids.

It's got more or less the same travel as your '92, which is fine for my type of riding. The symmetry setup would have been too wide for me. It's at 47" now.
If you're going with the long travel arms, the way to go is his '250R style' front clip that makes your frame narrower and give it more rake to allow over 12" of travel. It's worth the $$$ on a decked out a mx'er like yours.

u know, i think i talked to him once about that. it wasn't an option to purchase. it was just something he had done. for mx, i definately need more travel. i bought a dirtbike again though, so i probably will be concentrating on that. there are only 2 tracks left in district 34 for quads.

After you added the shock relocators did the stock plastic mount right on? Or did you have to do some podifing? Can you post pics of your quad now with the plastics on? Would like to see how it looks all put together..
Just wondering if it some one could use shock relocators to add on 87-92 shocks to the 86. Just wondering (doesn't hurt to ask)

The plastics fit fine. The shock bracket replaces the stock fender mounts. My fenders aren't on in the pic 'cause they're all cracked and faded and look like crap.
The whole point of adding the shock relocator is to put longer shocks on my 86. HSD says that it will not work with the stock A-arms tho.

I saw he had some Marvin Shaw shocks among some other stuff on there, but it was when I was moving and couldn't watch the auctions.
