Default Z400 coolant problem...

I got a question, my quad is over heating and i think it needs a new switch for the radiator. When it over heats it makes bubbling noises and stuff. What is this? The fan won't go on and what is the bottel on the left of the quad (if you were sitting on it)? Where do you put the coolient for it and what kind of coolant should i use...car anti-freeze? Please e-mail me at basektball8@rcn.com MY name is ryan this is my friends s/n thing on this website and i am just using it. Thanks again
Ryan

Well that "bottle" is the overflow coolant tank. Sounds to me like the thermostat is not working, which is causing the quad to overheat because the fan is not engaging. For coolant, go to the local quad store/bike store and they will have premixed coolant. If not, you can buy Engine Ice which is much more efficient than your standard coolant, but more expensive.

The white bottel, when it says full does that mean i have a full thing of coolant in it? Or should I empty that becuase it is no use to me? Let me know. any where is the Thermostate found? please let me know. Thanks Ryan... One more question, can i use anti-freeze, like car anti-freeze? And are you sure it isn't the switch to the radiator??? Thanks sorry for all the questions I just got it and ain't the best mechanic..

That bottle does not tell you how much you have in the raditor, Like a car there is a cap at the top of the raditor on the right hand side. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THAT!!!!!!! THE FLUID IN THE BOTTLE IS NOT HOW MUCH YOU HAVE IN THE RADITOR.

you should never have to check the radiator as long as the overflow bottle has coolant in it when its cold
when the motor cools down it pulls the coolant into the radiator. and when it gets hot it pushes it into the
overflow bottle. so check the bottle when the motor hasn't been running for a day and see if it has any
coolant in it, if not then check the radiator, the bottle should always be half full. it sounds like the fan switch
went out or the fan itself. the switch is in the radiator
