Need help on a lt250
#1
Hi,
My buddy has a lt250 year(somewhere in the 80's I believe). The engine is different than any I have worked on. He is doing a top end and has a few questions. First, and I know this sounds dumb but, How do you drain the oil out of the crankcase? He pulled the oil plug and the crank case did not drain??? Does this quad really only take 700 ml of oil? Question of my own is there is a sight glass on the right side of the engine but it is not an oil level sight glass. What is it? and how do you check your oil level?
Thanks for any help.

that window on right side is a powervalve sight glass as you rev motor u will see that little arm move showing you its working. and be sure to disconnect the powervalve arm before lifting the head off or u risk damaging the plastic clips that hold it. and that bike must be epmty if u pulled the plug on bottom as there is no soight glass for oil only the ml specs on case. hope this helps

thanks for the help. one more question.................. my buddy drained the oil thru the drain plug in the bottom of engine, but crank case is still full of oil. Is there a separate drain or is the oil we're seeing stuck in a pocket and we have to shake the quad to get it out. The reason this is a concern is because antifreeze spilled into the crank case so we need to flush the entire system, but w/the drain plug out there is still oil visible in the crank case. Why won't it drain out?

run couple quarts of gearsaver or something through it im sure u will get the anifreeze out . if plugs out ther cant be too much oil in there. and be sure to listen to semms on the year, u will need to know, or it will create a problem.

like Semms40oz stated. 700 ml is alot for a quad engine, just think of a 1/5 of whiskey, it's 750ml and that's 50 ml over
good luck
