I just put my hmf pipe on, and i havent jetted yet. i turned it on for 30 sec. to see how it sounded and then smoke came out of the pipe for a while after i shut it off? And! do i need the spark arrestor? Whats does it really do anyways?

 

ya, ya might want to re-jet first befor you blow the thing sky-high.

 

If it was a brand new pipe the smoke was likely caused by chemicals from manufacturing(pipe burning in), etc.... but i would rejet before running it.

 

ya i wasnt gonna run it. The most it will get run before getting re-jetted is to the bed of my truck to be taken to the guy who is gonna do the jetting for me. It wont hurt if i load it will it? What do you mean blow it sky high?

 

you can load it with no problems.... you aren't gonna run lean until you start getting into carb circuits past 1/3 throttle.

 

so the smoking is normal? it smells pretty strong.

 

it is frickin loud too! im not sure if im gonna like it THIS loud! I might have to get a quiet core. I don't wanna be a nusence. Does the spark arrestor make it any quieter?

 

only a Db or so, go for the quite core. blow it sky high is more of a saying.

 

you said you only ran it for 30 sec.... the smoking is just the pipe burning in. it will do this for a few minutes until it comes to temp. and burns off all chemicals, oils from hands while being handled, etc..

 

hey another thing. when we got my pipe from the dealer, they sold me this jet that they said does not require you to take off the airbox lid. Whats with that?
