Default Misfiring LTZ250

I have been refuelling my Lt from new metal jerry cans and if I leave the quad ticking over it eventually start to cough and spluttter and then dies. If I try to rev it all I can hear is misfiring. If i turnb the petcock to prime it rusn fine. Do you think i have dirt stuck in the petcock /tank filter and if so how do i fix this?

Also the bike is really due its first service. Do I have to take it to the dealer to mainatin warranty or can i service myself and keep receipts for proof of what was done? What oil is recommended for the engine, fully synthetic?

Dude you got it. their is prolly dirt in the screen filter on the petcock where it enters the gas tank. Drain the tank and take off the petcock and blow the screen out with a air compressor. And about the warrenty issue if you save reciepts you should be fine and I think as long as you buy their oil or keep somthing that prooves that the oil you did use is APG/SPI certificated etc. It may also need a valve adjustment and a good carb cleaning.

Why are you rejetting? Its probably not clogged, because if it was clogged it would still run like crap on prime. Sounds like your pecock is just stuck shut, still a good cleaning or blow out should fix it (not the carb, the peecock itself). As for the oil, DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC. It WILL screw up your clutch. It says in the manual what to use, also do a search on here and you will learn a lot about oils and wet clutches.

Check the vacumn hose to the petcock, and make sure it isnt leaking vacumn, or disconnected.
