How do you Polish Parts
#2
This has been brought up before, you can find more info on this topic using the search function.
I'll give you a run down on how i polish rough cut aluminum parts (i.e. custom motor mounts, etc).
1) sand using 150 grit until all large scratches are gone and the peice is all one texture.
2) use 220 grit
3) use 320 grit
4) use 400 grit
5) use 600 grit
6) optinal use 1000 grit (if you don't use 1000 grit then proceed to step 7)
7) (skip this if you used 1000 grit) Use emery cutting compound on a polishing/buffing wheel until it looks close to a mirror
8) use brown tripploi polishing compound on a polishing/buffing wheel until you can easily see your reflection.
9) you can finish polish with mothers aluminum polish or red rouge polishing compound
It also ok to use a sander if the parts are flat. if they are complex shapes then do it by hand.
