87 LT250R Counterbalancer phasing

Alright, question time. I just replaced the oil side seal for the crank, and stupid me, didn't pay any attention as to where the dots line up on the crank and counterbalancer. This has to be one of the stupidest designs I've seen, my 86 lets you only phase them one way. So where should they be? Piston up or down? Thanks. Later
