Default warning:05 kq oil drain plug stripped

i changed my oil today and stripped the drain plug hole. i put the bolt in finger tight then took the ratchet in the palm of my hand to snug down before torquing. well it never snugged, so i removed the bolt and there were all the threads stuck to the bolt and the hole looked just like it had been reamed. the bolt is a 12mmx1.25 pitch.i am a machine repairman by trade at allison transmission div. so i do know a few things about tapping cast aluminum and to put a fine thread in a position like that is just plain nuts! there is plenty of stock so i drilled and tapped it for a standard 9/16x12. i hope that maybe the threads were cracked at the factory and that this is an isolated case but i have a bad feeling. these are new quads and i bet nobody has changed their oil more than once or twice. these threads are not going to take being retightened over and over no matter how gentle you are.good luck.
