Default oil-88 250r expert advice needed

After my quads first hard ride after the break in(bout an hour and a half long ride),i drained my oil and it was really dark colored. Im not losing any coolant, and dont seem to be losing any oil either. Could losing a very small amount of coolant, like, not even enough to notice a level drop in the radiator cause this? What could cause this? btw it ran great the whole time and never overheated

Was the oil new?
What type of oil?
What does it smell like?

You are not leaking any coolant or your oil would be milky looking.

it was havoline 10w 30. And i actually dug the bottle out of the garbage can to compare the smell of the oil in my engine to the smell of the oil left in the bottle, and they smell exactly the same,it seems like the oil just got dirty.

It is a good thing that the oil smells the same. Smell can tell a lot about what is going on in the engine.

If it was fresh oil from the rebuild, it could have picked up some residue from the old oil. Also, in my experience with 2-strokes, the oil does tend to get darker quicker than with a 4 stroke.

I would change the oil and see if you have the same results. I personally like to use Gear Saver 80w in my crankcase and change it about every 10 hours of riding.

Good luck, you should be fine
