questions for KQ owners
#1
Couple of questions ya'll. I am thinking of getting a new quad, and I like the KQ for many reasons. I like IRS, FI the fit and finish of the Suzuki. But I have a couple reservations...I do not like the current belt system I have, and the lack of handling. My Cat does handle weight well I need something to hunt, fish, camp and haul firewood/clearbrush also some minor farm work, so my questions are................
Has any one pulled or worked the KQ and how does it do?
How well does it handle weight?
Is the belt low maint?
How does it do on tight technical trails?
Is it pretty tough?
I want something to ride not work on. I am fully aware of the reverse issue.I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT REVERSE. IF Suzuki is standing behind it with a 5 year warranty I am not concerned about that. any info would be great I am having trouble making up my mind so this will help a bunch! thanks again everyone!

Arcticcop,
For what it's worth...
I have had my king for 6 months... So far no belt issues, other than water every now and then... Handling for a 600lb+ quad is outstanding. Now as far as working... We have a camp outside of BullCreek in central Florida and for the last couple of months we have spent a lot of time useing the KQ to tow downed trees and a small trailer while cleaning up debris from the Hurricanes in our area and not a single word of complaint.
Now for tight technical trails. The quad will do very well you just can't ride it like a SRA. I ride with a group of sport quads, on short tight trails I can keep up with the sport quads with little problem. On longer trails they flat out run me... :-) As far as tuff is concerned I have rolled it twice with no more damage than a bent brake handle or popping a few plastic body panels apart. (Both roll overs were at low speed with only one roll each time.)
I hope that helps..

Thanks Hibrass! That was the info I was looking for! Sounds good to me I really like the feeling and all the features of the KQ I have not got to ride one yet, but I will soon. Thanks

I've put 400 plus miles on my king quad since oct. First off the tires suck for anything but trail tiding. Get them in anything sticky, and your lost. I ride alot of tight trails, that's where the kq shines. It handles alot like a sport quad, you'd never guess it weighs 600lbs. In the owners manual it says to change the belt after 1200 miles. That seem's to be kind of a short life to me. As far as toughness goes, it seems ok. There are a few areas to check out. The cv boots are way underprotected, i purchased a set of stick guards right away. Take a look and you'll see what i mean. I would also recomend a front bumper. Take a look at how the headlight assembly is mounted. It's all plastic, and is just screwed onto a part of the front rack. If you hit something or lay the quad on it's side, i think it will break. For the bumper you would want one that sticks out past the edge of the fender, to protect that area. I think it's a great bike, it's powerful and a blast to ride, you're just going to have to spend a little money to really get the most out of it.
