Newer LT 250 motor in a 86 LT 250 frame ?

Default Newer LT 250 motor in a 86 LT 250 frame ?

Has anybody put the newer year lt 250 motor in a 1986 frame was it a simple swap or did you have to do any fabrication's ?

simple minor fabrications. two cuts motors in weld tube in for front lower engine mount and get newer exhaust to match motor. oh yeah think i took 2 links outta chain too.

also you would have to weld in an upper motor mount to make it like stock. i plan on putting a 90 engine in a 86 frame.

i know theres some differences but out of curiosity what would be the gain to put a newer lt motor in an older lt frame?

more aftermarket parts, a regular reed valve, a six speed transmission, plus its newer than an 85 or 86.

Dont forget the powervalve! Plus, the 85-86 LT's weighed like 30lbs less then the 87+.. the 85-86 weighed 293lbs [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]

Default Newer LT 250 motor in a 86 LT 250 frame ?

Made that same swap. 1986 frame 90 motor....cut off the down tube from frame...weld in upper motor mount to frame. then add gussets or some type strength to frame up front....very easy swap.
