Good deal on a Z?

but for $500 you can buy some extras for the quad thats why I would go for the 03

if the frame cracks... can it b fixed? is it expensive?

It can be fixed by welding it and while they are at it, you may want them to weld on some gussetts for more support, probably a few hundred bucks unless you do it yourself. You could try some upgraded shocks which should take some of the stress off the shock towers which is where most of the frame problems occurr. Either way, unless you're buying an 05 LT-Z with the beefed up frame and added gussettes, the difference between the 04 and 03 are minimal so go by price. If something happens down the line then you deal with it. Unless you are mx racing or abusing the bike, you should be fine. Just make sure you check the frame before you buy it. The worse thing that would happen is that you buy a bike that already has a cracked frame.

The 04 has a better chain adjuster and it was my understanding that Suzuki used a different alloy on the 04 that the 03 because of the cracking problems.

You may be right on the alloy change, at least suzuki has finally solved the problem with the gusetts on the 05. What a sweet bike.
