Default LT250R HELP!!!!!!!

it sounds like you need a bore and piston.and possibly a rod and bearings.without actally seeing and being able to measure the wear limits on your crank its hard to advise you on that.i dont know where you live but if you have any kind of mx type of events within an hour of you you may very well have some quality engine building shops within your area.check around the track if that is a possibility for you,im sure you would get some recomendations.

Default LT250R HELP!!!!!!!

I own an LT250R and i am also a mechanic so i hope you trust my diagnosis. I know every nut and bolt of the LT250. I checked out your pics and it looks like you were running way to lean. First thing you should check is your fuel. Was your fuel mixed right? a good way to know if your running the proper fuel is your plug. A plug can tell you alot about how rich or how lean your mixture is. Along with not having enough oil in your fuel, air can also lean your mixture. Was your LT surging the last time it ran? was it reving high? you could have had an old or worn cylinder base gasket or your sealing in your base which seals your cases could have gone bad. Another thing you should check is your crank seals. Crank seals on all 2 stroke engines are notorious for going bad and then sucking which in turn causes the engine to overheat and eventually fail or not start at all. If your ring is melted into your piston thats a good indication that you were running way to hot. You should check your coolent also. Sometimes engine failure isnt cause by just one thing but possibly a bunch of things together. also check your intake boot on your reed cage and the gasket on your reed cage. Check the boot that connects to your carb too. Make sure they arent cracked. As far as the Crank goes, it should have some play. If it has too much play it means that you are gonna hafta get it rebuilt. Its expensive but it is a lot cheaper than buying another crank. Depending on how deep the scratches are in the cylinder will depend on whether or not you will need to bore it. If it isnt very deep there are acids that can be used to smooth the cylinder. As far as the crank rebuild try and find a machine shop. A local dealership will also be able to help you locate a machine shop to rebuild your crank. Places such as CT racing will do a good job if you dont mind sending it away but i would recommend finding someone more local if possible. D&D racing will also rebuild your crank. They dont do it themselves but they send it to a local machine shop which has a lot of experience. This is where i send my cranks and i am always impressed. They are my recommendation but once again depending on where you live you may have to send the crank. They are located in Northern NY, Louville NY. www.ddracing.com
