Default 2000 Quadmaster 500

hey guys, i'm looking at a 2000 QUadmaster 500 for right around $3000. It has a plow, 1500 lb. winch and ony 1030 miles. Can anyone give me a few thoughts (pros and cons) about this machine. I currently own a 2003 Big Bear and would like to try and compare the two. Oh, and can anyone tell me how fast the Quadmaster goes? The Big Bear only hits just above 40 mph. Thanks.

edgerider; my last quad was a 00 quadmaster 500. it was a great quad. sold mine for $4000 last fall with plow, hard box, 1500 winch,2" lift and blackwater xt tires that were about shot so $3000 seems pretty good to me. cons; the thing drove and rode like a school bus. steering on tight trails was work. pros; it was one tough quad. compare the frame, shocks, differentials, axle sizes to other quads and you should see a big difference. i pulled my 20 ft ranger bass boat around the house through the corn field all the time with no prob. cant tell you right off what that boat weighs but it sure aint light. small gas tank and terrible mpg is another drawback. when riding for a day i had to carry extra gas, at about 35 miles i would have to switch to reserve be it easy trails or climbing mtns. speed; dont get in a hurry, top end was low 40s. i would assume speed and mpg are all related to the gearing. not much top end but down low this thing will put the power to the ground. worked that quad around the house and rode it from the smokey mountains of tenn. to the rockies in utah with 0 problems. an ironic story relating to qm verses bb; i started over heating in tenn. once (totally my fault for not cleaning radiater after mudding the day before) and a buddie on a bb towed me over the mtn back to a stream to flush rad. so those bbs must be pretty tough as well. hope this helps a little. good luck and safe riding.

Looks like a pretty good price to me. I bought a 01, with fewer miles, early this Spring for about $4,000. Very satisfied so far. I've got 40 acres of timber, most of it very steep up and down, and am impressed with where this thing will go. No need for speed so can't give you a clue there. But starts in a second and trouble free so far.

I had a 2000 Quadmaster 500. Mine ran great. The Quadmaster is known for a very low - low range. It can pull & pull & pull some more. I had mine up to 45 with a little throttle left. The only problem I had with mine was my fault. I did not know to come to a complete stop before changing to or from 4wheel drive. The Quadmaster is not fancy just dependable and works hard. Mine had 3800 miles on it when I sold it to buy a new King Quad. Before selling mine I checked the value on a website I found. A price range of $2700 to $3500 was listed for the 2000 Quadmaster 500 depending on the condition. I rode the Quadmaster in Colorado up to 13,600 feet without rejetting the carb.

Just winched my QM out of a mud hole. Not a pretty sight. I picked mine up for $1500 with a 1500 winch, 5ft snow plow and only 900 miles. Is practically brand new, runs like a champ. A good friend of mine gave me this great price so he could upgrade to a 700 KQ. It has been able to tackle ALMOST anything i've been able to throw at it! I have topped out at around 52 on a flat gravel road. Not bad for a quad that maneuvers like a tank.
