works shocks for Quadzilla???
#1
Hey there, Ive been thinking about possibly getting works shocks for the front of my zilla. There are a pair in the local paper with remote resovoiars (sorry spelled wrong) for around 300 somthin bucks. I know its a reasonable price my question is, whats the difference. My front shocks are in fine condition theres nothing wrong with them. I dont really jump i just trail ride. How much of a difference are aftermarket shocks, how will they make it a better ride, I know they are "better" but in what way???

They will greatly improve your handling, And the ride over rough stuff. You can get dual rates for 329 without rezzies 530 with rezzies brand new. The only difference between rezzies and non rezzies is with them they sepperate the oil and gas. And they last longer the ride is the same. Hope that helps also you need to know what the shock was built for. I would suggest buying new versus buying used and having to have them rebuilt you will have more in them. Than new ones just my 2 cents...

i have works dual rate with rezies on my 500. if i were to do it again i would have saved my money and bought a higher quality shock from somewhere else. i was very dissapointed with them. they bottom to easilly and when i tightened up the preload the made a cluncking sound from extending. thery don't have a inside bumper to quiet that, very annoying to always hear clunk, clunk. and the springs and shock bodies are smaller than the stock shocks.

Works tend to end up a little soft for big jumps, however they were great through woops and aggresive bumps. when I had them on my 250R
I just got some basic (dual rate, non rezzie) TCS front shocks for my LT. I like them for the most part, a little too much rebound for me, but that could be because they are valved for a 400EX.
If your not doing serious jumps, the works will be fine for you. As far as what make it better. You should notice that the bike is easier to control in the rough stuff and doesn't wear you out as much while riding. On the trails hitting small logs won't jolt bars as much. If you still have the original shocks they are probably just plain worn out.

I dont really jump more then 3 feet in the air and thats a rarety. we ride fields and woods. We have a few table tops but not very large and because my frame is tweaked I havent worked the ajustments out for those small jumps anyways. So taking that aspect out of the picuture the works are good shocks? Think im better off with 300 somthin into shocks or a steering dampener?

i don't jump that much either. if you go fast through whoops or ruts they really bounce me around. but they were better than my stock shocks only because they were blown. but they do work good for fields and over roots in trails.
