05 Eiger buzzing noise
#1
I have a brand new, (2 MI), 05 Eiger that sounds like a tire is rubbing on something, or possibly a noisy gear. I could hear it cause I cant ride it yet due to shoulder surgery and my wife has been riding it in the yard, so ... It is pretty loud and seems to be speed related. I figure I'll load it up and let the dealer look, but I was wondering if any of you have run into this . Thanks

Do you have one that does it, and how loud is it? I bet I can hear this baby 75-100 yds away! I have a honda and a 300 K.Q that are quiet as heck, so this kind of shocked me. Does it get worse or hurt anything?
Like I said, it really sounds like a tire rubbing on a mud flap or something! I'll still stop off at the dealer Monday and see what their take is.

I have an 03 Eiger and never any sound like that from it. I'd definately take it in.

mine did it... it was the seat release handle vibrating on the plastic. it was RPM/speed related and you can test it by doing whatever you do to make the noise and reach down with your left hand and touch the release handle. Mine sounded JUST like a problem with a gear or the rear diff. I stuck a piece of the soft side of sticky velcro to the spot it was vibrating on.

Thanks, I'll give that a try and see if it stops it. I looked back trough the past posts and there are lots of different ideas, and it appears to be a common thing. The guys who have one that makes the noise just drive them that way. I'll still check the dealer, but from what I'm reading, I'll probably just get told it's normal. I'll let you know if the handle is the culprit.

I DO have a different noise that is completely unrelated to speed, it's a noise either from the T-case or from the rear diff that sounds like 'tight gears'. You know, kinda like that whining noise you hear when you go fast in reverse in a Toyota or Honda? Mine's always made that noise, but it's a noise that I'm used to hearing from a lot of things, so it doesn't bug me.
I guess it's also similar to the sound a gear driven t-case makes in an older pickup when you're driving in 4-low.

I think you have it discribed pretty good. I was kind of thinking that it kind a sounded like a truck in reverse going over rough terrain. Mine starts up in about 3rd gear and continues from there on up. Like I said,I'ss talk to the dealer today and I'll post the just of our conversation. If he tells meits just the way the gw=ears are,I guess I'll try and get used to it....( It wont be too hard).
