Service? Worth the money?
#1
Im gettin ready to have my Eiger serviced for the first time....IT has about 700 miles on it...I have already changed the oil and filter myself...I want the valves adjusted and stuff like that...my local dealer has a service plan they follow for routine service....
they change ALL fluids....oil, gear and so on...lube all the cables....change the filters...they clean the air filter and reoil it...adjust the valves...adjust the carb...inspect the brakes, clean them....check the bearings and repack them if needed...
I think that was about it...but anyways....the price on all that was between 130$ and 150$...I think about 139 after tax...
Just wondering is it worth it? I know i need the valves adjusted...and i dotn wanna do that myself...id rather have a dealer do it...and thats not real cheap...so i might as well have the full service done then....
I just dont know if it is worth it or not...i have gotten many different prices from 30$ to 150$ for a service...this dealer is the only one that goes into this much detail though...
thanks

With only 700 miles on the machine I dont think they will change the diff oil. They will just check it....tell them you want the replacement oil in its place if they dont change it out....other wise you will be paying for nothing... You can always do that later yourself. Seems like a fair price to pay for checking the machine and adjusting the valves. Keep the receipt in case some thing goes wrong later.

Yeah, i figured i had better do it...I always like for the dealer to do the first service...I'll do the rest myself...
I did a search on Service for the eiger and found a bunch of different opinions...I guess it depends on the dealer...
I trust my dealer...if i had any doughts at all, i wouldnt do it...
Zig...i called back and asked if they checked or changed the fluids...they said "We change all fluids, if they need it or not." So i hope i dont get screwed...Im thinking aobut marking some of the bolts with a sharpie to see if they actually touched them or not...
I just wonder if that price includes new brakes if needed...i dought it...I think i need a new set of front pads...it squeaks when i hit them...i have been in a lot of mud lately too...that gritty, sandy kind...so i think they are gettin wore down...
