Default sticking throttle

I own a 88' Suzuki Quadrunner 250 4x4, and the throttle keeps sticking. ive cleaned the carburetor many times, lubbed the throttle cabel checked the throttle box on the handle bars and havent been able to find anything. the throttle only sticks when its running. ive also put seafoam in the gas and the sticking seems to get worse and worse. has anyone had this problem before?

Does the throttle feel soft or mushy? Or does it just stick open? I'm assuming your carb has the needle down through the top w/ the throttle return spring enclosed inside the carb. That spring may just be worn out. Once the engine is running it's creating a vacuum inside and keeping the needle pulled open. Just my $.02. You could get all redneck like and rig up some sort of external spring on the handlebars, but that's hokey and could be a life threatening situation.

when its not running it opens and closes nice and easy. when its running it pushes hard just a tiny bit, then from then on it sticks and you have to crack on the gas and sometimes it will let go and sometimes its a hasle to get it unstuck.

If you look at this carb blowup. I'd say that you need to replace the spring (#2). You may have some sort of debris in there, or maybe some scoring in the carb horn that's causing it, but I doubt it.
