KQ 700 Reverse Issue
#1
Hello:
I am new to the forum. Like many others, I am in the market for a new big-bore quad and the KQ 700 is on my list of potentials. However, I am concerned about the major reverse tranny issue in some of the 2005 models. If I were to purchase a new KQ 700 it would be a 2006 model. Can anyone confirm whether or not the reverse issue has been corrected in the 2006 models? Thanks for any insight anyone can provide. FYI, the only other machine I am considering at this time is the Yamaha Griz 660 Auto.

I have had an 05 for about 3 months now and have 600 and something miles on it. I have run the heck out of this thing. In foreword and reverse. I have not had any problems. I have backed up steep hills in reverse. IN 2wd spinning the tiers and in 4x4. I have pulled buddies out in reverse and still have not had any problems. I know my dealer in Columbia MO. is currently out of all 05 so I would say that you have a good chance of picking up an 06. I'm sure your dealer would order you one.
Good luck and I know you would enjoy the KQ. It is a great machine!

If you are buying a late 05 or an 06 there should be no issues with the reverse. They have been upgraded to eliminate the issue that was seen on the early quads. At least that is what I am hearing.
I also have an 05 and have not seen any issues. I do not like the reverse override that they put on the quad. Very limited!!

Only machines behind a certain VIN# still have the defected reverse parts. Most of the older machines that had the reverse issues have been phased out of the dealerships by now. Suppose though that you happen to buy an older one without updated reverse parts. It takes EXTREME abuse to make it go out in the first place. However, if it goes out, Suzuki replaces the parts for free with updated ones and an ECM that limits the amount of utter stupidity you can unleash on the reverse to cause it to break again. After the fix, forget about it. The reverse problem on the Suzuki KingQuad is a dead issue.
