When your valves are all out of whack like they sound like they are it definatly robs a good amount of power. The race is close anyway, if the valves were right on. Its a combination of your valves and weather or not u hit your shift points right.

Yea..im definetly lossing some serious power because whe i was stock i smoked him hardcore..and ever since the ticking started which was probally 6 months after i got it(right around the time I got my pipe) and its had trouble beating him in a drag...but power wise it still more powerful. I really need to get those vavles fixed. How much are new vavles anyways? My friends exhaust vavles were 42 each and intakes were 22 each. would it be the same price?

thats not a drag race then. ur saying u already beat him if u do it the right way and start off the line at the same time, so idk what ur getting at. the ticking is prolly just the valves, theres no way u should have to rebuild that thing yet

okay find your cam chain tensioner out pull all three bolts out and see how far the tensioner sticks out if its out all the way then u need to replace the cam chain about $60 and pretty easy to do yourself if u have some smarts when it comesw to working on motors just make sure when u put the cams back in make sure your timing is right or else u will be buying new valves if u need any help feel free to pm me i just did mine not to long ago

I would have to agree with this.....run your valves this needs to be done on a regular basis...Try a taller tire in the rear....go down one tooth on rear sprocket..I like the sparks pipe/header mine is jetted per their specs....it runs righteous...Lighten the load if you want more speed....stock shocks/rims nerf bars/six pack racks these all add up to a few pounds...This is just my opinion.....I am posting on my husbands name. My 04 z has a sparks pipe jetted 168 4th clip lots of bottom end thru top....more top end coming this year via port/polish (professionally done!!!!) with stage 2 hot cams....Stallion's wife

Make sure you pull the center bolt and spring out first. If you dont it might push the tensioner out and give you a false reading.

I wish i would of read that before i did it..I yanked it out and it was out all the way. It could only go inward. So I guess thats the ticking im hearing. If im at idle and rev it a little bit the ticking gets faster. So it must be my chain.
